KC Clay Guild Board Agenda - June 5th, 2024

ATTENDEES: Cindy Percival, Cynthia Brown, Kelly Daniels, Deborah Kashyap, Laura Tyler Strawn, Louis Reilly, John Devaney, Kelsie Herron, Josh Wood, Abby Callaghan, David Firman.

BUSINESS UPDATES:

Treasurer’s Report –

· Revenue for May: $46,399.62

· Expenditures for May: $44,682.57

· Gross Profit: $1,717.05

· This is reflective of the Spring Sale, so the gross profit feels low - I'm going to investigate more and let you know next month.

· Still working with Melynda to categorize the expenses for the last month - will have those for next meeting.

· Transferred funds into the KC Build Fund to match the website: $35,034.74

Votes outside of meeting

Voted yes for Melissa May to replace Melynda Steward as KC Clay Guild Treasurer.

Spring Sale – Kelsie, Josh, Laura, Amy T, David

Would be really nice if Amy Troester could be paid to lead the sales in the future. Everything went very smoothly.

Workshops –

Monitors / Volunteers -

• Update on Volunteer Summer Picnic. July 21st

o The proposed budget for the board's contribution to the event.

o Shelter reserved at Sunnyside Park for 7/21/24 all day.

• Proposal for yearly Firing Packages for Volunteers.

Voted yes

• Working on gathering documentation on our current Volunteers.

• Looking into the possibility of creating a teen volunteer position

o I've had a lot of interest from teens wanting to volunteer.

• Created a spreadsheet for Subs to document their shifts.

Tech Committee

• We have Google Workspaces just working on getting access. We ran into an issue with the setup.

• Still working on research for a new website/membership platform.

o Currently looking into WordPress Plugins that link to membership platforms

o Open to researching all suggestions

*July 8th – Construction volunteers can help with projects around the guild. Maybe we can have them do some exterior tidy up jobs.

Publicity – Kelsie

I’m currently in contact with AIRS about their exit show advertising. Waiting for them to get back to me with pictures but hoping to have that finished by mid next week if they get materials to me by weekend.

Seems to be going well and is pretty much sold out

Next week the hole will be made for the garage door. Instead of doing a garage door, maybe just temporarily take out wall and then put it back.

“New” facebook marketplace washing machine is not working super well, but will hopefully be replaced by the people who refurbish the washing machines.

Technology–

Grants

We met the 20K matching grant from the Muriel McBride Kauffman Family Foundation in 1 month.

This fall we’ll have Windgate and Francis Family Foundation to apply to

Artist in Residence

Three new artists in res, 2 people with MFAs, 1 just finished BFA.

Current residents need to get info for the exit show to Louis and Kelsie this week – Arts KC, July 5, 5-9. They will be using the new pedestals.

Gallery –

Strategic Planning Committee- Josh, John, Melynda, Abby, Louis

John: Now that we have a signed purchase agreement on the 4201 building, the board will have to address the $10,000 escrow payment due this week, funding for any environmental inspections and, potentially, a survey of the property. We also want to discuss hiring an attorney to get us through the "closing" on the property, now scheduled for the end of August.
