KC Clay Guild is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 200 West 74th Street, Kansas City, MO 64114
In this two-day workshop, students will learn new ways of designing, building and illustrating their forms by working with soft clay slabs. Chandra will share how she translates sketches into pottery forms by using simple and inexpensive materials, such as wood, bisqued clay and craft foam through handbuilding techniques.
Chandra will demonstrate her approach to a layered, colorful surface through freehand drawing, underglaze inlay, brushwork, sgraffito, and texture and color.
This workshop will be suitable for beginning to advanced clay students. The workshop will be valuable for anyone striving to develop a more cohesive relationship between form and surface in their own clay work.
The workshop will run from 9AM-4PM on Saturday October 7th and Sunday October 8th. There will be a one hour break for lunch.
Chandra will present a slide talk on Saturday October 7th at 1:30PM. The slide talk is free and open to the public.
