COMMUNITY OUTREACH
KC Clay Guild frequently offers heavily discounted or even free educational programming for non-profits in our community. This charitable practice is core to our mission. We believe in the power of collaboration and are proud to partner with local organizations to strengthen our mission of making art accessible to all. Through these partnerships, we bring together diverse communities, provide educational opportunities, and support emerging artists. Read more below about our programs. |
ON THE MOVE PROGRAM
The On The Move program brings ceramic arts to elementary schools across Kansas City, including Kansas City Public Schools, Hickman Mills Public Schools, and beyond, through the KC LINC after-school initiative. Our teaching artists travel directly to the schools, bringing all necessary materials and tools for students to explore and create ceramic projects. Once completed, the pieces are transported back to the KC Clay Guild for firing. Ceramic arts programming is a rare opportunity at the elementary school level, particularly in urban districts where maintaining kilns and acquiring materials can be a financial challenge. On The Move addresses this gap, providing hands-on creative experiences that might otherwise be unavailable. We believe that introducing young students to ceramic arts in their communities is a powerful way to foster diversity in the field and inspire future artists. Our hope is that through this program, students will not only develop a love for ceramics but also gain the confidence and skills to pursue the arts at any level. |
URBAN CORE SCHOLARSHIP
The Urban Core Scholarship Program offers high school students from select Kansas City-area school districts the opportunity to take a 4-week adult ceramic class at no cost. Participating school districts include Kansas City (MO and KS) Public Schools, Raytown Quality Schools, Center School District, and Hickman-Mills C-1 School District. This program is designed for students with a strong interest in art who are committed to attending all four classes. Click here to view application information. |
