Cydney Ross Wednesday Workshop

This month's Wednesday Workshop will take place on the first Thursday of the month instead of our usual second Wednesday time.  Cydney Ross will be demonstrating how she creates her beautiful porcelain jewelry.  Cydney is also doing a month long ceramic jewelry class at Belger Crane Yard in October!

Cydney Ross was born, raised and resides in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her BFA in ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2013. Ross developed an interest in architecture as subject during a study abroad course at the International Ceramics Studios in Kecskemét, Hungary. A sculptor and jewelry designer, Ross maintains a studio fine arts practice in ceramics and mixed media. She is the creator of the wearable fashion line CYDNEY ROSS porcelain accessories, featuring precision-crafted, porcelain jewelry and accessories.

CYDNEY ROSS porcelain accessories are precision-crafted in Kansas City, Missouri. Inspired by architecture and flaunting a contemporary aesthetic, all works are handmade in small batches with a keen eye for details. Starting with a slab of clay, Cydney designs the jewelry by cutting strips of graphite and cream colored clays into geometric shapes, and creates incised details with a knife. She then goes through a labor-intensive process that includes brushing on glaze details, multiple kiln firings, and two rounds of hand-sanding to create a visually stunning wearable with tactile qualities. Several pieces feature pops of colorful glaze and accents of 22k yellow and white gold luster that is applied by brush and fired into place.
